Happy Saturday lovers!
Not sure how many of you enjoy watching pageants alone on a Friday night, {vegan} ice cream included, BUT I sure do.
And I’m always wondering how ALL the girls look SO fabulous. Where do they come from. Who are they and are they REALLY hair-spraying their bikini bottoms to stay put. {I mean really}.
Well I have a girlfriend who participated in
Miss World Canada 2014
I am insanely proud of Brieanna for the hard work and dedication she has put into her exciting journey. She is seriously gorgeous and always empowering the people around her to be the best version of themselves.{fun fact: she helped this blog launch…. yes you should thank her} ;)
I’m very lucky to have had the opportunity to interview her for spark{le} and get some girl talk flowing…
Enjoy :)
Girl Talk with Brieanna McCutcheon
Hello Gorgeous, tell us a little about yourself!:
I am a born and raised fashion crazed girl from Edmonton Alberta where I spend most of my time trying to figure out how I can live life better. I am in constant competition with myself regarding my personal ability, long term and short-term goals.
I believe everyday is a gift from God and that I should always push forward with any endeavors I have.
Okay so you were a beauty contestant at the Miss World Canada 2014 competition in Vancouver, BC…… How the heck was that?! Fill us in girl!!:
The whole process was very new and exciting because I have never done anything like this before. I was able to meet a lot of talented girls from all over Canada while visiting new places in British Columbia.
For the first time in my life I had a pageant coach, Harriet Trinka, who worked long hours with me on my walk and how to act in certain situations. She was a big inspiration through the training and continues to be because of her leadership skills.
Any hot gossip?:
Nah, I am not really the gossip type.
Was it comparable to Miss Congeniality?:
In some ways the experience of Miss World Canada 2014 was comparable to Miss Congeniality but for the most part it couldn’t have been further from the movie. For example the pageant in the movie was done on a large scale and had a big opening number with a big budget for the women. Ours however was a small-scale presentation where we did not get a lot of “on stage” rehearsal time. I find Hollywood makes every situation extreme and over the top to capture the viewers interest where as in reality everything is actually chaotic and not so glamorous.
If there were one part of the pageant that was like Miss Congeniality it would be how the women sing on the bus rides…and that is the honest truth.
What was your favorite/least favorite part?:
- Favorite Part: Meeting all the wonderfully talented women across Canada during that week.
- Least Favorite Part: The late nights that were accompanied by the early mornings. The day usually started at 5-5:30 am and ended at 1:00 am.
Was the experience difficult?:
Going into this pageant I had a very small idea of what to expect, the experience pushed my character in ways I thought it never would. This pageant tested my patience, my drive and my character in ways I was not prepared for. After all is said and done I made the best out of the experience and saw major growth in myself.
Okay honestly. Did you have to be primped 24/7?:
No!! {giggle, giggle} For the most part I wore minimal makeup with a couple days being exceptions.
Uhm… were you dying before you had to step out on stage in a BIKINI?!:
No way, I worked really hard 4-5 months leading up to the competition and amped my workouts up a week before I left for Vancouver. The week prior to leaving I worked out twice a day, which consisted of an early morning 5 KM run. In the evenings I made sure to go to the gym where I did weight lifting to get my strength up.
Strong is SEXY.
Well it’s no secret you have an amazing body, what are your secret tips/tricks? Spill:
The only tips and tricks I have are clean eating and working out at a mid to high intensity 4-5 days a week. To be honest there are no secrets or short cuts {I wish there were} there is only good ol’ fashioned hard work.
Name your favorite 3 brands:
{In no particular order}
1. Alexander Wang
2. Balmain
3. Markus Lupfer
What are your favorite skincare products?:
- Mask: GlamGlow
- Lotion: GM Collin Oxygen Puractive+ Cream for Summer and GM Collin Nutriderm Cream in Winter
- Exfoliant: Clinique Exfoliating scrub
What about makeup tips and tricks? Your eyebrows are to die for btw:
The best makeup tip I could give anyone is to take care of your skin {SUNSCREEN}!! There is no point in caking on makeup if your skin is not looking its best. The best way to ensure that your foundation- your skin- is looking its best is sleep, exfoliating 2-3 times a week, working out and drinking lots of water.
What is {the spark} in your day you just can’t live without?:
This sounds so corny but inspiration…If I am not inspired to do better, to grow, to conquer I would remain stagnant. If I were to remain stagnant I would cease to grow and if that happens I have failed myself. I cannot live without inspiration in my life because if I do I have failed myself.
