Holy Guacamole.
I HAVE to share this like right NOW.
There is a way to clean your hair WITHOUT dehydrating shampoo.
No longer do we have to fear that our hair is “breaking” from removing natural oils with chemical packed shampoo. The days of not shampooing for a week or caking on the dry shampoo 5 days in a row are OVER. Those can stay in 2016 as far as I’m concerned.
This year is all about Hairstory’s NEW WASH.
Let’s start at the very beginning.
About a month and a bit ago I read this article on Forbes.com. Immediately I was intrigued. I LOVE Bumble & Bumble. You guys know I am constantly featuring prêt-à-powder on the blog. Plus, the fab hair salon {Hedkandi} I go to uses Bumble & Bumble all the time.
AKA I love their products.
Michael Gordon, who originally founded Bumble & Bumble, has now launched Hairstory. Their main product? New Wash.
Basically it’s a way to clean your hair WITHOUT shampoo.
New Wash “contains no sodium lauryl sulfate, a sudsing detergent used by nearly every company on earth that makes cleansers, including Method and the The Honest Company.”
— Forbes.com
The package says to slather the product on wet hair, making sure to cover all the strands. If you have long hair you should comb New Wash through your hair while in the shower. I didn’t do this cause I was a) very tired and b) too lazy. I’M JUST BEING HONEST. I used my fingers and just really made sure all of my hair was covered.
Then the package tells you to rinse REALLY well and not to use conditioner…..
WAIT WHAT? Pause, re read, panic.
NO CONDITIONER?!
Ummmm I was HIGHLY SKEPTICAL on that…. When I don’t use conditioner I step out of the shower with a giant bee hive on my head followed by 15 minutes of painful combing.
WITH NEW WASH I DIDN’T USE CONDITIONER AND MY HAIR WAS AS SOFT, IF NOT SOFTER, THAN USUAL.
I originally thought I would have some weird film left on my hair or it would be all weighed down and ick. Sometimes after too much dry shampoo that happens. Is that just me?
Well it was the OPPOSITE. My hair was 1000000% clean. I am NOT exaggerating.
Also, I have fine color treated blonde hair. So I’m BIG on hair health. The last thing I want to be doing is damaging the hairs I DO have. I thought this product would weigh down my fine hair but it didn’t at all.
So I’m clearly addicted. I need New Wash.
If anyone from Hairstory is reading this, please send buckets of New Wash.
But seriously, they have OTHER PRODUCTS TOO. I want to try them SO bad. If they are anything like New Wash, I’ve finally found my hair haven.
Lastly, if you try it and love it, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. Oh and there is a New Wash Club. Simply sign up and receive a complimentary stainless steel dispenser and refills as frequently as you’d like.
UPDATE: Some of you have been asking okay so what actually cleans the hair? GREAT QUESTION. Here’s the answer:
