How to Drink like a Lady {and recover like one..}

It’s Saturdayyyyyy of the LONG WEEKEND!

I know you had a busy, productive week and should definitely plan to treat yourself with a few cocktails. Or maybe you already are right now {no judgements here}.

EITHER way, I’m here to help you out girl.

I know summer is winding down and those short shorts may be extra snug these days but don’t fret. I’m here with ya and I’ve whipped up a girls guide to drinking like a lady {skinnified} and how to recover like one.

How to Drink like a Lady:

** Ladies 18 and up, drink responsibly… no one likes the girl who is white girl wasted crying on the bathroom floor, no matter how cute your crop top combo is**

  1. Stick to drinking alcohol 0-2 nights a week {seriously, I piled on the weight a few years ago from drinking, but I mean a girls gotta have her fun too. Just be picky with your boozy nights}
  2. Set a limit of 1 to 2 drinks.
  3. SINGLE SERVING OF WINE IS 6 OZ…. so order a single serving. Unless you’re drinking for more then one person, in which case you should not be reading this post.
  4. White wine is generally 107-213 calories per serving. Depending on the sweetness. Whenever you can, order a dry white wine. I always choose a Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc which are a) my favourite and b) the lowest calorie per alcohol percentage.
    • Pinot Grigio ranges 9-12% and 107-143 calories per serving – 0 – 20 sugar calories.
    • Sauvignon Blanc ranges 12-14% and 153-173 calories per serving – 0 – 13 sugar calories.
    • Champagne or sparking vino {always a great option} is generally 12.5% and around 158 calories per serving – 8.5 sugar calories.
  5. Sip Slower. Ask for your vino as a spritzer {aka add soda} ;)

When it comes to beer order a LIGHT beer {Bud Light, Miller Lite, etc.}. Lower in calories but also lower in alcohol percentage. Secretly I’ve learned to love Stiegl Radlers and Crabbie’s Ginger Beer this summer. Must try.

ANYWAYS, beer has about 22.4 carbs to 19.3 carbs in a glass of wine. And 1 glass of standard wine is equal to 1.5 bottles of light beer. You do the math.

Nights that are full of drinking {special occasions}, I stick to my vodka sodas {1oz} with a REAL lime wedge. Try to set a limit. And stay away from sugary drinks!!! Seriously. You’ll thank me tomorrow.

 

How to Recover like a Lady:

**Ugh. Grease. Why do we crave it when we’ve JUST spent the night consuming calorie filled drinks? Not sure. BUT I’ll share some hangover secrets that work for me ;)**

Text whoever owes you a favour to bring you an americano misto with soy and vanilla from Starbucks STAT.

Next, grab a blender.

Throw in: 1 Ripe Banana {potassium+sugar}, handful of spinach {iron}, 1 coconut water {miracles}, 5 drops Vitamin B12 {energy}, dash of cinnamon {some pep in your step}, top off with unsweetened coconut milk.

Blend it. Pour in Glass. Drink.

Wash it down with 2 handfuls of cheddar goldfish.

BTW: Since alcohol is a diuretic DRINK TONS OF WATER.
