New Years Eve Makeup

Hey there.
So you survived Christmas, but the holidays aren’t over yet sweet cheeks.
It’s time for New Years Eve makeup tonight and all about that glam.

So of course I wanted to give my mains some makeup tips + tricks in time for tonight.

Tip 1.) Highlighting is your BFF.

OKAY make sure you check my contouring post HERE… BUT basically you’re going to be applying highlighter to:

// the bridge of your nose
// your cupids bow
// directly below each eyebrow
// highest point of your cheek bones.

I seriously suggest using a CREAM highlighter as it’ll stay put way more effectively. However, cream highlighters can be difficult to blend on the tops of the cheek bones so for that I use this powder highlighter by Laura Mercier.

The best highlighters are:

Watt’s Up! by Benefit // perfect golden champagne hue.

Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlight by Clinique // a bit pinkier, great for fair skin.

Matte Radiance Baked Powder in Highlight 01 – golden nude by Laura Mercier // perfect mix of pink + gold.

MAC Cream Base in ‘Pearl’ // STAPLE especially in the winter. It’s a pale gold with icy shimmer.

Tip 2.) Focus on the eyes.

Two options for New Years Eve makeup….
BOLD black liquid/gel eyeliner OR a lustrous smokey eye.

Best liquid eyeliner is by Stila. It’ll last you all night hands down.

I haven’t tried gel liner but I’ve heard this Bobbi Brown one is soooo good!! {Comment below if you have more brands for us to try!}

Smokey eye.

NAKED 2 PALETTE IS EVERYTHING. It’s the only palette I use.

Start the base with ‘Tease’.
Next Layer on ‘Busted’. Add it until you’re satisfied with the boldness you’re looking for.
Then I use my NARS Black Velvet Shadow Stick. Draw a thick line a few times from the inner corner of your top lip to the outer corner. Then use that shadow stick on the outer half of your bottome lash line and SMUDGE both top and bottom. It’ll look super smouldery and gorg.

End with two {or three} coats of thick black mascara like Better Than Sex by Too Faced or Eye Opening Mascara by Bobbi Brown.

SECRET: Add some fake eye lashes. Apply your mascara FIRST, then the lashes. Touch it up after with liquid liner. Don’t want them noticeable? Cut the lashes in half and apply the outer halves to the outer half of your lid line. Looks so good.

Tip 3.) Add some lip.

If you choose the liquid/gel liner look, pair it with a saucy bold lip. I’d do a bright red or else deep burgundy. Try LipFusion’s Plumping Lipgloss in Berry or NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Majella.

The Smokey Eye look pairs best with either a nude lip or light, shimmery pink gloss. NARS Lip Gloss in Orgasm is one of my staple pink shimmery glosses. MAC lipstick in ‘Blankety’ is probably the best nude.

MAKE SURE YOU LOCK IT IN.

Spray your face with Urban Decay’s All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray. It’s a MUST in my makeup routine. We don’t want our makeup halfway down our faces by the end of the night.

Tip 4) Pop, Fizz, Clink.

Don’t show up to a party empty handed. Grab a bottle of sparkling. Prosecco, Champagne or Mousseux are my favs. They are all sparkling wines but from different regions.

Hosting? Make sure whatever sparkling you go with serve it chilled and 1 bottle {750 ml} serves about 6 champagne flutes filled 3/4. Get more hosting tips HERE.

Non-alcoholic? These champagne truffles from Holt Renfrew are to die for. Such a hit.

Lastly, don’t drink too much!!!!
Girls. Slow your roll.
Don’t lose your minds and make sure you leave the house with 100% battery on your phone.

Incase, the champs does end up getting the best of you {it happens}…. Before you head out check my blog post on ‘How to Drink like a Lady’ here…. I got you girl.
